Snow Camping in a Blizzard
Back to Archive index
|
In a blizzard put up your tent in the lee of a small hill or large rock. Large hills tend not to stop the wind or they direct the wind downwards, so that the tent gets flattened in the gusts. Don't site your tent too close in the lee of cornices as the cornice may build up overnight and then collapse on you and your tent. Also the tent will collect more snow on it's roof close to a cornice, than if it is placed a little distance away. |
