Navigating in Spring

In spring when the snow is melting and large patches of grass and bushes are starting to appear, travel on the North-East side of the hills and mountains to get the best snow cover. Plan your trip route with this mind and remember that at creek crossings, in spring, the water will be higher and most snow bridges will have collapsed or be unsafe. Snow bridges will most often be found at changes in the direction of the creeks and when the flow is across (normally North-West or South-East) the direction of the prevailing winds. An open plain on the windward side of the creek also helps to create snow-bridges
