Factors that Govern your Speed

The skier's own abilities - their fitness, co-ordination and technique.

Question - do you snowplough every downhill or do you let your skis run?

The flex of the ski - stiff tips for icy hard conditions, soft tips for snowy or slushy conditions

The structure of the ski - do you have an aggressive rill (a pattern of grooves) in the base of your ski (essential for Australian conditions).

The wax job - have you waxed your skis at least 20 times in their lifetime so as to achieve their greatest potential? Do you have the right wax for the day?

Don't get too hung up about the latest and greatest wax job. Unless you have the first three factors working in your favour, it's really not going to matter.
