Bureau of Meterology. Do a search for the synoptic charts, stand on your chair and shout at those little cold fronts, willing them to head north and dump lots of white stuff. Better still, look at the snowy moutains region forecast, get snow depths and forecasts for the next couple of days.

Ski.com. Has lots of snow cams showing the resorts but also has a special cross-country section which this year will have trail reports from Perisher and also backcountry snow reports from Canberra and NSW Nordic Ski Clubs trip leaders.

First Tracks Online Magazine that does a search of the english speaking world media to provide the latest ski stories. Mainly concentrates on the alpine world and in particular the U.S. (hey! It is the internet) but occasionally you do pick up some interesting telemark or nordic news.

KCROS keep in contact with what is happening with the lobby organisation for cross country skiers. Has new section on backcountry safety plus an overseas guide to cross-country skiing. Webmaster is our own Michael Stevens.

Snowy Hydro. Finish off those arguments about what was the best season by being able to lay snow maps on top of each other from different seasons. Can make interesting reading.

Telemark Tips. Probably the best site for telemarkers. Constantly updated with a good instructional section for all standards of skiers plus stories and tele news.

Telemark Ski. A gear orientated site but not constantly updated. Still has some interesting sections on how to choose boots or alpine vs telemark skis etc.

GoSki! Search for the video section for it has the latest and best tele and backcountry videos available for a bit of e-commerce.

XC Ski World Probably the best e-zine for racers. Comprehensive instructional section, constant updates on news (mainly American) with JD's interesting "workoutof the week" and some great stories from around the world. A must.

Snowgum Wodonga. Voted as the best ski shop in Australia a couple of years back This site has Bob Cranich's waxing and race preparation tips for Australia plus a comprehensive cataglogue of track and touring gear. Watch out for Bob's specials. Sometimes there is a bargain to be had.

Jenex. As an importer for the popular Star Wax has probably the most comprehensive waxing guide on the net plus a great news section that gives you some of the XC gossip from Scandanavia and North America.

The XC Files. Catch up on the lastest Australian news plus the racing programme.

Silent Sports a US outdoor sports magazine published with lots of features about XC skiing. Always has an article or two available on the net each month.

Velotique has the latest nordic videos and having personally used it delivery was within 10 days. It is also better to pay in Canadian dollars than U.S.
